The Black Doll Affair Announces a B’huetiful Fashion Show
Macy’s at Lenox Square Mall to host affair benefiting a philanthropic organization
and self-esteem movement for black girls and women.
Hosted by: Nina Brown & Rashan Ali

Guests of Honor

Monica {Kaufman} Pearson, Veteran Channel 2 News Anchor woman:
For a b’huetiful 37 year career on WSB-TV Channel 2, for being the first woman and the first Black anchor on a daily evening news program in Atlanta, for showing us black girls that hue don’t have to blend in and that true beauty comes from individuality, and for being a “pretty…philanthropic” friend to Macy’s, Inc, we will pay tribute!

Nan Orrock, State Senator Nan Orrock, District 36, Georgia:
For leading the way in the civil rights movement when it was unpopular for a “white girl” to do so, for leading the way in women’s rights and for helping BDA get its day on the calendar in Georgia, we will pay tribute!

Yvette Caslin, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development Steed Media Group:
For being committed to unsung community heros and for being the FIRST media person in the Atlanta Community for acknowledging our movement, we will pay tribute!

Atlanta, Georgia [April 13, 2012] In celebration of black girls and women, The Black Doll Affair (BDA), a philanthropic organization and self esteem movement for black girls and women, will present a fashion show at Macy’s. During the spring season, B’huetiful: The Black Doll Affair Fashion Show will be hosted by multi-media personalities Nina Brown and Rashan Ali and is scheduled for Saturday May 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Macy’s Lenox Square store!

Appropriately named “B’huetiful,” The Black Doll Affair Fashion Show will pay tribute to members of The Black Doll Affair, The Black Dolls. The show’s dolling Iconic Guest Honorees are: Monica {Kaufman} Pearson, veteran WSB-TV Channel 2 News Anchor; Nan Orrock, State Senator, District 36 Georgia; and Yvette Caslin, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Development at Steed Media Group.

Celebrating black girls and women and highlighting their diverse beauty, the show’s goal is The Black Doll Affair’s mission – in a fashionable way – to change the trending negative way black girls and women are perceived and, more importantly, change the way they perceive themselves. A day of fashion, entertainment, honorable recognition and beauty, the event is free and opened to the general public. Event Organizers will select The Best Dressed woman [Doll] and girl [baby doll] in the fashion show audience, so get all dolled up!

The wheels of The Black Doll Affair movement began turning in 2007. Four years later, for its commitment in philanthropy and efforts to change the way black girls and women are perceived and perceive themselves; BDA has boarded thousands of supportive members called The Black Dolls. Entities such as Essence Magazine, The Tom Joyner Morning Show, The Microsoft Company, Meetup Inc., Mattel and the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty have each given boost to the BDA little movement that could. In 2009, supported by Georgia’s Governor, Mayor, Atlanta City Council, GA House of Representatives and the GA State Senate, BDA received a Proclamation for Black Doll Affair Day [December 12] in the State of Georgia! The Black Dolls went on invitation to Congressman John Lewis’ Washington DC office and President Obama’s White House. Recently, BDA received a Volunteer Service Award from President Obama.

See you there.

SGT Highlight :: VirtuousOne

I first met Kerrie about two years ago as she graciously supported my book Corporate Chics. Her spirit is beautiful. She is someone that will support what you have going on and the love that lights up the room when she enters, is amazing! Last month, through BlogLIVE, she was a guest and although I didn’t do everything that I needed to do on my end to secure a venue, she was able to meet and connect with the owner of a new shoe store in less than ten minutes to help pull the event off. She is a sista that holds it down as a personal shopper, stylist and is definitely a fashionista. The chic is FLLLYYYY and I am grateful we connected! Meet Kerrie VirtuousOne.
